The Atelier and the Grammar of Matter:
Featuring Roberta Pucci Speaking Live from Italy via Zoom
What is an atelier? How is its space and organization? Which materials does it offer and what is the role of the atelierista?
Starting from these questions, we will see how the atelier is the result of a certain idea of the child (and in general, of a human being), as owner of hundred languages. According to this idea and to our final goal as educators, the first original set-up of the atelier could evolve in many consistent variations, suitable to each different context.
Of course, we will also discuss what are the essential reference points that can support us in the creation of our own atelier: one of the most important is experiencing firsthand the materials that will be presented to children.
That’s why part of the session is dedicated to a practical workshop and the exploration of the “grammar” of materials: how will this short experience definitively change your approach? Looking forward to discover it together!
